We’re Gary & Elizabeth. In April of 2017, we packed up and sold our house in Austin, TX, USA and moved to Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo, Mexico. It’s us, our two dogs Bessie and Sadie, and our cat, Wookie.

Where is Puerto Morelos?
Puerto Morelos is in the state of Qunitana Roo, on the Yucatan peninsula, halfway between Cancun and Playa del Carmen.

Building our house in Puerto Morelos
We built a house in Mexico! Well, we paid to have a house built – we did not do any actual construction work! 😉
You can follow along from the purchase of the land in August of 2020, to move-in day in August of 2022. (2 years seems like a long time, and it was, but we also were in the midst of a global pandemic, so that slowed things down a bit)

We used BuildinTeam for our new house build. They were great to work with, and did an amazing job. Definitely recommended!
