Today we got rid of the last of our stuff at our house, locked it up, and started our journey to Mexico.
It was odd to see our house empty.
We have such great memories over the last 16 years in our house. But , it’s time to move on!

We packed up the Jeep and trailer, loaded up the dogs, and we’re off.
Day 1 was pretty easy. Austin to Laredo, about 250 miles. About 4.5 hours total, including a couple of short stops for gas and to let the dogs out.
It was nice having a bit shorter day, allowing me to get a bit more comfortable with the trailer.
And of course, I used Marriott points to stay at a hotel in Laredo. We’ll see how well my travel hacking continues to play out once we’re in Mexico.
Tomorrow morning – we cross the border!
Sounds like day 1 was success
Did you bring the trailer down to Mexico and plan to sell it? We might be in the market for one to tote our stuff down in 2018 🙂
Hi Gigi – To be honest, I’m unsure what we’re gonna do with the trailer. It’s on the same TIP as the Jeep, so they need to stay together.
Not sure if I just keep them as Quintana Roo only vehicles, or possibly drive to Belize and sell them there (perhaps even to another gringo).
Whenever I figure that out, I’ll post about it.
