🦁 Arrival

We arrived in the Serengeti, where we were met by our private guide (Ale). We did a slow, meandering game drive through the Serengeti, where we, again, saw animals everywhere. Huge herds of wildebeests and zebras. He drove us to our tented camp.

Our truck was an Toyota LandCruiser. All open, with a bimini-style top. Perfect for wildlife viewing.

⛺Mobile Tented Camp

The Esirai Mobile Migration camp was our home for the next 3 nights. Yes, it was a tent, but it was definitely glamping. It was a huge tent with a king-size bed; front sitting area; make-up table with sink; a bucket shower room and toilet room were attached to the tent. They had a separate “lounge” tent with comfortable seating and couches  – it was the only place in the camp with 110/220v power – so we could charge our devices there. And then there was a separate dining tent where we had all of our meals. Everything was solar-powered (with battery storage). It was actually very impressive for a tented camp. We were super comfortable. Food and service were top-notch. And they did laundry for us every day.

🦁 Game Drives

We spent the next 2 days on game drives, leaving early in the morning, with breakfasts served out in the bush. In the afternoon, we had the option to do another game drive, or just hang out. One day we did the afternoon drive, and one day we decided just to hang out and relax at camp.

🦓 Late Night

At night, the zebras were all around our tents, eating grass. We could hear them eating, and peek out the tent windows to see them.

🛩️ Fly to Ruaha

The next morning our same private guide picked us up, and drove us to an airstrip, where we flew to Ruaha National Park, in southern Tanzania. Again, it was a small Cessna plane (only 12 passengers), and both takeoff and landing were on dirt airstrips. Rhaua National Park is the second largest park in Tanzania.
