I normally don’t post too much about our travels, but we had a lot of questions about our trip, so…

In October of 2026, we did an African Safari trip. Specifically, we went to Tanzania for 10 nights, visiting 3 different areas (Ngorongoro crater & Lake Manyara, Serengeti, and Ruaha National Park)

Itinerary

✈️ Fly from Cancun to Dallas on American Airlines; Business Class; 55,000 miles total for 2 of us.

🏨 Night in Dallas, at the Grand Hyatt DFW; paid cash

🛋️ Chase Sapphire lounge in DFW

We visited the new Chase Sapphire lounge in DFW, which is fantastic. They even have a whiskey tasting experience. I definitely prefer the Sapphire lounge over the AMEX Centurion lounge.

They even have a whiskey tasting experience.

✈️ Fly from DFW – DOH – JRO. (Dallas → Doha, Qatar → Kilimanjaro, Tanzania);

Business Class, Q-Suites, on Qatar Airlines. Private suite with doors, lie-flat double bed. Incredible flight experience. With a Chase 30% bonus, it was 131,000 Chase points each way (total for the two of us).Transferred Chase points to British Airways, and then BA to Qatar. Definitely my best miles redemption ever.

14.5 hours of flying to Doha on an A350-1000, and then 6 hours to Tanzania on a 787.

Suite on the 787

🛋️ Qatar Garden business class lounge in Doha

We visited to the Qatar Garden business class lounge in Doha, which was excellent. A shower and sit down meal after a long flight is so good. More later on the lounges later.

Doha Airport

🏨 A night in Arusha

We arrived in Arusha (Kilimanjaro); where we had private transportation to Katambuga House, where we spent one night. Basically to eat and receiver from jetlag.
